« on: May 13, 2007, 03:56:15 pm »
Alright, i got a new creaftsman at our local high school from the shop teacher.
Unfortunatly it is hydrostatic, however i am getting an old peerless to put in it,
anyways can someone tell me a bit about this engine? Also, can someone please tell me what year it is.

It is a craftsman LT4000
15 HP OHV Kohler Command engine.
Model # CV15S
Spec. # 41508
Serial # 2504620404
Family SKH426VIG2RB

i can also get the number from underneath the seat if you need it.
Thanks again,
Andrew

The first two digits of the serial (25) is 1995. Doesn't matter much except some early engines had adjustable rockers. Later ones are fixed fulcrum style like Cleaveland Fords. There is alot of power potential in that engine for its displacement.

What are your intentions for this mower? Do you plan on building a racer?

Thats good to heat about the engine, currently i am running

That is plenty if not more exhaust pipe than you need.

That engine will make best power with a fairly small primary section of pipe. I would go no bigger than 1 1/8" for the first foot or so.

Yeah, for the first 8-10" or so is 1" pipe from the header to the open space in the frame where the original muffler was. Thanks guys.
