"Crazy Racers" Outlaw Class Mower
« on: May 11, 2007, 08:36:40 pm »
I've been reading through the posts on this site for quite a while now, and I finally got myself a digital camera so I thought that I would jump in and show everyone my mower. It's built for the outlaw class in the "Crazy Racers" club at Pukwana, South Dakota.

If anyone is going to be in the area, our first race of the year will be May 19th, come over and watch!

It has a G-Team 31 inch Briggs, originally a 12.5 hp.

I really don't have a transmission, I use a 1:1 right angle gearbox similar to what is used on a grain auger, it weighs alot, but so far has been extremely durable.

The frame, steering system and front axle of the mower was all hand made, and it has a solid live axle for the rear. The hood is off of an old Huffy Sheraton (which I modified so that I could open it without taking it all the way off) and the fenders are from a Murray.

First of all, GREAT lookin mower! (i never liked the way the outlaw mowchines looked, but yours looks like it was made for those bumpers and footholds!) Second of all i like how you edited your hood to slide forward and open like that, thats a first for mid-engine mowchines!
Gotta love a good 'ol Briggs Flathead!

sweet machine! I am going to try to be in the area that weekend and watch your races.
I have done so much, with so little, for so long, that I can now do anything, with nothing, all the time!

Woody, that is last year's mower, and the race date is also from last year. The thread got going again after a year. Thanks for the new comments.

This years first race is supposed to be this Sat., but they are talking rain. If you are interested, our schedule for 2008 is posted in a thread under Non-affliliated races. I wish I knew how do do a link directly to the post.

Could someone post some instructions for linking to a post, or direct me where to look?
