1972 Case C/P or Mod-X
« on: May 06, 2007, 05:22:23 pm »
This is my C/P (USLMRA) or Mod-X (AMRA).  It's a 1972 Case 107 with a Brigg's 31 cu.in. OHV and a Peerless 820.  It's mostly finished with just a few final touches needed.

That front hook can be used for towing but I use it and the one on the back for strapping it down on the trailer with three other racers.  The mowchines get scuffed enough racing so I hate to do it on the trailer.  I also have a Super Stock (AMRA) built identical to this one that almost ready for paint.  Thanks for the compliments Guys!

Jack, i have a Case 110, basically the same mowchine. Im planning on bulding it up as an IMOW at first, then work my way up (if i can ever get to that point). Can you send me as many pics of the bult as you can? i would greatly appreciate it! My email is  money89tractors@yahoo.com.

Ive seen some pictures of another mower your have, another case, and theyre both VERY nicely built. Great work.

Phil,  I do have a 108 (very similar to your mower) built as an old style IMOW.  It has a Briggs 13.5 28R707 flathead and a Peerless 600 and 18" tires.  Unfortuately I didn't take any build pictures then.  I am in the process of tearing it down to comvert it to a ARMA Super Stock with an Briggs 14.5 OHV.  I will be lowering it and doing a fully adjustable front axle and direct steering.  I will get some shots for you as this progresses.  This is what it looks like now.

Thanks Jack! Pictures of the current setup of both mowers would be great too, mainly the steering and driveline. Ive realized the space between the frame rails on my Case is VERY narrow, which means a tight fit for the clutch, guides, and idlers. I was planning on converting my Case to a peerless 700 and live axle, but i am unsure of where ill have room for the 700.

Phil, yes the frames are alot narrower than other brands.  The forward section is only 8" wide and the mounting bolt pattern for the Briggs engine falls just inside the web of the frame rail.  You can't run any bigger than a 6" pulley on the front.  It does widen out to 12" in the rear.  There is room for a 700 to mount right where the frame steps out.  We built my cousin an A/P with a 700 and a 1-1/4" kart axle on the same frame so it will work but it ain't easy.  The clutch rod and shift linkage on my C/P run right up against the frame rail and there is no extra room in there.  They are a little harder to work with but the frames are very strong with very little flex.  My C/P as shown weighs in at 270lbs. race ready and I don't believe thats too bad with a 820.  You should be able to save about 30 lbs. with the 700 set-up.  I have also started planning and mocking up a Kohler Command powered B/P on a 116 chassis.  I should be fun!
