New mower
« on: April 22, 2007, 09:04:01 pm »
I traded for this yesterday. I traded my old Montgomerey Ward Vari drive for it. I have some changes I want to do to it. The good thing is I have another Craftsman for parts! I spent all day taking apart the other Craftsman.

Those side bars look like leg breakers to me

I will be getting it ready to race with the local race club. Yes I dont like the side bars either. I am going to put something better on the side. Or at least expanded metal so my feet dont slip out.

IF my memory serves me correctly that would be run with the SEMOW Racers, and that is the norm there boys.

Not NY, Missouri... SE, MOwssouri to be precise!

Yep its SEMOW Racers. And yes its the norm for side bars. They had one guy get T-Boned I think and broke his ankle after that everyone started putting on the side bars. I am allready a member of the association. The front bumper has to come off to race there though.

The side bars/ Nerf bars started showing up after a member was accidental hit.
His ankle was crushed! He now continues to race with us and does well.

So as a safety stand point nerf bars were permitted for driver safety.

We too push safety as a Major concern for both the driver and race fans as well.

As of this year front bumpers are not allowed. This has made our racing cleaner with less bumping.
So the pictures viewed may/will show front bumpers.

I would rivet some sheet metal plates on those side bumpers out of fear of getting a leg caught in them, or something of that nature.
