Tire/Gear Formula possible?
« on: March 23, 2007, 10:22:02 pm »
Been lookin around in my old references (mags, books, etc) for info about tires and such to see if any of it would work for mowers.

so far ive came up with some good info on the forum about these tires.  im taking some notes in my subject notebook.

im wondering if we could apply some math to this?  this is about cars, not mowers...but i just wonder if it could apply or be modded to fit us?...or do we already have it?  i have seen some formulas on this site and maybe another.  i did honestly 4get the link, but i do know its about gear ratios etc.  i will keep lookin for it just to make sure, so i dont repost on the same thing.

note: this stuff here is from "rice burners" as you may call it, and personally i think their is a difference in those "rice burners" and the real foreign cars that are in japan etc.. but thats another day and story..

check out the linkies:

http://spanntheman.atspace.com/tire1.html
http://spanntheman.atspace.com/tire2.html
http://spanntheman.atspace.com/tire3.html

they are still rather large images....but cut up in pieces and on different pages.  if needed i can make em smaller.

i run a 1280x1024(pixels x pixels) screen resolution (right-click, properties, settings) for my photoshoppin and gaming, though when making websites..i try to alter things so they fit the common screen resolution of 1024x768 (pixels).

laters...

I am not quite sure what the question is,but you always have to take into consideration the circumference of the tire that is why IMOW specifies a tire size and air pressure number.

Somewhere around here there is a thread with a spreadsheet attached that looks at all of that. Soon as I get caught up, which should be about 2009 the way things are going this week, I'll see if I can find it.

mightymowe, yep! i wanna find a great combination in those specs to use.  im still reading on imow...and the rules.  i think they are different?  and with my spare time, i'll just play with those equations like its a rainy day outside.

glad ya mentioned that bc i need to understand imow better.

i think i found the equations/spreadsheets mowdak

looked in these topics:

http://www.heymow.com/index.php/topic,1702.0.html

found these links in them...i hope i didnt miss any:

http://www.et-studios.com/motorsports/gears/gears.html
http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
http://www.gokartracing.org/Calculate.htm

along with the equations application....which...i had buried in my harddrive already from the yahoo group.

i guess this needs to be in the driveline? since it seems to be dealing with more of it than the tires....which i guess im just tryin to blueprint the whole mower before i build it.

glad u said "spreadsheet" mowdak1....its a good search word.  ive noticed i get 2 different worlds when i search with "tire" than "tires"...also ive never thought about calling it a spreadsheet....so that opened up a new world.

thanks all!  now i just need to try some example problems to solve.
