Alpharetta To Host Cutting Edge Spring Nationals Lawn Mower Race
10 classes of the Nation’s fastest lawn mower racers to compete, May 31 – June 1
ALPHARETTA, GA - (May 15, 2019) – Alpharetta is set to welcome United States Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) as racers from across the country will compete in the 2019 USLMRA Cutting Edge Georgia Spring Nationals on May 31 – June 1 at Wills Park Equestrian Center. Ten classes of the fastest lawn mower racers in the country will satisfy their need for speed on their tricked-out weapons of grass destruction. Racers will rev their engines and hit the gas reaching up to 80 mph as they take to the turf.
Established in 1992, USLMRA is America’s oldest and largest National Mower Racing sanctioning body. The USLMRA racers don’t compete for monetary rewards but they do race for trophies, glory and most importantly bragging rights. Members and affiliate racers enjoy the love of competition, to tinker and they welcome all who share that philosophy. Racers balance American ingenuity with a sense of humor, a love to engineer and desire to go fast. By not racing for money, they keep the sport of lawn mower racing safe and affordable.
“What a defining mow-ment for the 2019 USLMRA season opener being held in Alpharetta, Georgia,” said Kerry Evans, USLMRA President. “Alpharetta is a perfect place for racers to gather for the Cutting Edge Spring Nationals race. The racers and their families will have a fantastic racetrack for competition and vibrant city to explore, dine, shop and play in before and after the race.”
The race is projected to attract racers, their friends and family as well as race officials. Over the 2-days of sod-slinging competition, the event will draw participants to Alpharetta’s 26 hotels, more than 200 restaurants, over 250 shops and endless entertainment options.
“We are excited to welcome the Cutting Edge Spring Nationals Lawn Mower Race to Alpharetta and the Wills Park Equestrian Center,” said Janet Rodgers, president and CEO of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Alpharetta will be host to not only the racers but many visitors to the race who will shop, dine, play and stay in our awesome community. We encourage the locals to come out and cheer on the racers during the 2-day event. They might even pick up a few new tricks on cutting their own lawns!”
