49 ci Briggs intek Connecting Rods

(1/1)

Les Beckman:
 hi all wondering how many of you guys have blown standard rods on vtwin 28hp
Just blown my second set in two week period
This time whole engine destroyed

PJG56:
What rpm's are you running?
I have seen many new engines that only lasted a few hours@ stock 3650 rpm and others with hundreds of hours with no problems.maybe the ones that don't last are out of spec to begin with.

BIG AL 202:
So are we dealing with a 49ci Intek? When you use stock 49 you have to change them very regular to not do what happened. the use of ARC billet rods are the only real way to stop that. ARC rods will break but no where near as easy. I have seen ARC rods spin 10,000 rpm'sand live in smaller Inteks.
