845759 Heavy Duty Starter, Briggs Mod 28/31
« on: January 04, 2019, 09:26:19 pm »
Afternoon All
(Sat afternoon down here)

I was working on my engine today, which included running it a few times until suddenly my Hi Torque starter decided not to respond at all, I've tried by passing the solenoid, using an alternate power source for both the large input and the small blade connector but all I get is nothing, no life from the starter. Could anyone explain how to tear down this unit or advise if theirs such a thing as an exploded drawing for this starter?
It's times like these that being 12,000 miles away becomes a pain in the butt
cheers
Grant ;)

Sounds like you toasted the solenoid.

Do you know if these starters will run with an off board solenoid i.e. separate from the starter?

Still has to go through the on board solenoid. Going to cost you a solenoid.
