Hechinger build
« on: July 29, 2018, 05:32:02 pm »
Hi guys, I am new to the world of mower racing, but not to mowers (I work in a mower shop).  I acquired an old Hechinger from work, and I've decided to race it.  It has a 42cid opposed, and what i believe is (haven't washed the 30 yrs of crud off the trans yet) a peerless 2300 trans axle.  I am more than capable of doing all the work, I just have a couple of q's about set up.  1st, I've seen in a few places where ppl have said that trans is not good for racing- why not?  2nd, how do you guys set up your throttle, brake and clutch? ie do you have 3 pedals, 2 pedals and a lever....? and 3rd, any suggestions on a steering design? I've been looking at what other ppl have done, so any first-hand input would be appreciated.  I will be racing in prepared c/p. thanks

Go to the build section and see George's 07 build. That should help with chassis and steering.
