Replace fuel connector with a barb?
« on: May 25, 2018, 09:34:15 am »
I picked up these two things a couple days ago to play with.  I got the mtd running almost right away but the plastic “thing” on the fuel connector on the carburetor body broke and speed fuel.  Has anyone drilled and tapped this port out for a hose barb before?  I plan on beating this thing up and a plastic fitting seems like not the greatest idea for fuel delivery.

Also, any basic information about either of these machines would be appreciated.

You can replace the plastic fitting. If I remember correct, the inside is actually metal

Replacing the plastic piece was not preferable...I wanted something that would stand up to a little more abuse.  So I brazed some copper to the brass insert.  Kind of disappointed in my work...didn't think it WOULD work, but after it DID work the copper work-hardened and now it won't bend lol.  I'll get a 90* barb and do it better soon.  This at least lets me get the rest of the mower running and setup.
