Big Bore 49 Intek V-Twin??
« on: March 27, 2018, 10:30:30 am »
How big can you bore out a 49 V-Twin Intek Motor? I would like to purchase a new 49 Intek V-Twin motor and try to get 58 Ci out of it. Does anyone know if this is possible? Also is a 14 to 1 compression ratio doable out of an Intek? I currently am running a 44ci Intek and now a guy with a big block Kohler is just walking away on the straight aways on me so looking at more CI to keep up. BTW he has 58CI with 14 to 1 on his Kohler V-Twin.

In order to get 58ci out of a 49 intek you would have to have a bore of 3.600",thats .300"overbore and that's just not going to happen, without some serious block welding and expense and then it wouldn't be legal in BP (engine must remain stock appearing on outside).

A decently built 49 with about 10-1cr is more than you need for a BP mower

My current BP mower engine has a .020 over bore piston in it with a Precision Cam,  EC double valve springs and roller rockers. The head is a 49 ported and the compression ratio is about 9to1.

Inteck heads flow so poorly making the engine bigger will just make the problem worse  A small Vanguard with some ported 23 HP heads will have more power than any Inteck  14 to 1 compression is good but we used 14.5  you will need to "O" ring the heads and use copper gaskets
