Get the rod that will get you to deck height, and probably around .100"

Oh. If you are gonna do that then use a copper head gasket from copper gaskets unlimited. Lan Vasconti can make one that is .016 thick, and whatever bore you need. Spend the money to o ring the head, and you will probably gain more compression.

Not mandatory but very very very highly advised. An o ring really isnt that much, and if you can get the machine shop to sponsor you, you could probably get it very cheap.

On eBay you can use the briggs head gasket replacememt number, and it will show up. When you order it, send him a message, saying you want a 3.44 bore, and .016 thick.

do you mean to just go for a thinner head gasket instead of machining the head?

Yeah. It will be cheaper, and should be better or same compression ratio. You could shave the head and use the copper head gasket too.

If your going to run a stock cam you wont gain much from shaving the head,if you shaved it .100,i doubt you would really see enough difference to bother doing it

Im racing a little, just wanted a little more power. Im planning to port and shave the head, add washers to stiffen the valve springs, straight exhaust, stock carb but with a big air filter. I dont want to spend big money on an engine as im not racing often

I run av gas
