Clutch or torque converter

I see people putting clutches or torque converter on the engine pulley,why is this done and is there any benifit vs just a pulley

I don't know of any group that allows torque converters. If you can run a centrifugal clutch it will go on the crankshaft.

Not part of a group ,im just doin a project to keep busy  and play in the clay pits.i see a few different builds online were they put clutches or torque convetters on the crankshaft.i was wondering if theres any real benifit to doin so. Im not lowering or doing a ragb just tires pulley and engine work
