13.5 briggs carb

I have a murray select with a 13.5 briggs .on the carb bowl is what i was told is a solenoid,what is the purpose and do i need it ?

GET A HOLD OF EC CARB AND GET A ADJUSTABLE MAIN TO REPLACE THE SOLENOID.

Thanks, I'm thinking of making  a manifold  to fit my mikuni carb to it since it's free . Has any one done this with success?

That will depend on your ability to jet and adjust that carb.

Is the soleniod on this brigs carb supposed to have a o-ring to keep it from leaking or just rely on being snugg

Fuel shut off. You need to get an adjustable needle.
