Is this forum dead?
« on: April 19, 2017, 01:20:08 pm »
Sorry if the topic is a little too harsh, but I don't see any activity really... I used to get in here every day and see new stuff, now I hardly see anything. Is there another forum people are going to, to share builds and advice and such?

Most of the action seems to take place on the facebook pages.  You'll also find a lot of the back yard beaters there too.  Many have been turned off of this site due to perseverance about building safe machines to be raced, vs just "how do I make my mower do 50mph".

Yep!   That new thing called "Facebook" is taking over.  Don't think it is a fad either!!!

This is still a good resource.  Just not as active.  That also reflects mower racing as well.  Not dead, but on a decline.

I agree, Paul. Mower racing seems to be on the decline in my area as well. I would like to hear comments from others as to the reason why.

It's all but dead in our area our closest place to race is a hour and a half away and then they have no other cp class mowers there. My brother and I can race around the yard and not waste gas to drive anywhere and $20 a piece to race. But yeah we are trying to sell out not worth having them set around to race a couple national races a year.

I wish I could say it is growing in our area, but I can't. Many are showing interest however no new mowers, however we try to travel to O.K. mower racing once a month and Harold is doing something right!!!! The 3 hour drive is worth the trip and always a great time, I always look forward to the great bunch of people there and it's always great when they come to our track!! His (our) group down there is growing and his facility is becoming a premier place to race!!!!

YES! There is only 2 clubs left here in Michigan. One only runs once and a while mainly at fairs and festivals. They both run mostly on Saturdays. We used to have 5 or 6 clubs 5 years ago.
I don't see nearly as many folks on here anymore either, sad.

Sorry Ed, the Japanese have short memories and you are no longer huge there.

You do still have quite a strong fan base at various county fairs in Iowa. But that doesn't really count because as you know, chicken judging is a far bigger deal.

Sure Al. It's probably the police call listings. And Fong is a farce. He's really an Eskimo.

Well dang, I wonder what the reasoning is for people backing out, seemed like it was on the uprise a couple years ago and now all of a sudden it's heading down.

Me and redline retired. That's it in a nutshell. Al can't fulfill our efforts.
