Wanting to put brakes on transaxle and have a few questions

If i put a brakes on the transaxle can i just do one side and it stop both or do i need brakes on both sides? Also has anyone done band style brakes if so hoe did it go?

If you are going to run an open rear end you will need brakes on each wheel.   If you lock it or run a solid axle you can use 1 brake. 

I had a buddy run a drum band brake a long time ago.  It worked but it wasn't as good as a hydraulic brake.  He didn't save that much in the long run either.

Thanks .its open rear.if i lock it will it be harder to turn?
