hey guys what pulleys make an 8 to 1 gear ratio

Depends on the transmission/transaxle ratio in the highest gear.


Most use an adjustable pulley to get the perfect 8:1 ratio.   That is about the only way to get it perfect.

You can go on EC speed calculator and throw numbers at it and get a good starting point, I think with EC trans in 3rd gear, 6" on engine, 4" on trans, 12 tooth on trans and 44 tooth on axle is pretty close

I haven't ever built an IMOW so I'm not sure where to get one.  I have seen several doing tech though. 

Hopefully someone will chime in as to where they can be found.

Browning makes adjustable pulleys. You can find them on EBay for around $20-$30.

12tooth and 48 tooth sprockets would be 8 to 1 final ratio with the above pulley selection and gear selection in the ec tranny(3rd gear being 25-25 tooth gears )

that's right, was trying to remember off the top of my head, and I know somebody mentioned tire diameter, and that is the rules but will have nothing to do with gear ratio
