Would like to know the reason and  why they move crank and cam mark. My briggs 46 has two teeth off.

Primarily that depends on the cam grinder. Short answer is valve timing.

Thanks for the reply.. I was wondering because I have a high lift cam in my 461707 and I can't get it to run on both cylinders. So I was thinking it was the cam not ground right. I don't know what the duration of the cam is.PYBDFD

Try a different coil first. Oppys are notorious for failing coils. Never use aftermarket coils either.

ONE OF THE TRICKS IS WHEN YOU COME INTO PITS PUT A SMALL FAN BLOWING DOWN AT THE FLYWHEEL AND COIL. HEAT KILLS THEM.

I checked coil by taking number 1 plug wire off and tried to start and it didn't start so I grounded Number 1 plug wire to the block with a screw driver. It would start and run on number 2 cylinder. Put plug wire on both plugs and it would run on number 1 and was dead on 2. I ordered new coil. will let you know if it fixed the problem.

Did you swap plugs to see if it would run on other cyl.?
do you have compression in that cyl.?

Sounds like a bad spark plug....happens more than you would think.

I installed new plug. took compression. # 1 read 80# and # 2 read 75#. both spark plug out and turning over with starter. I am thinking I might pull valve excess cover to check keepers.
