Briggs 17hp ybsxs.5012vp help

I have a 17hp ybsxs.5012vp motor I got from a friend for cheap.  Is it possible to get parts for this motor to make a decent racer out of it?  If so could you please point me in the right direction and possibly tell me where to start.  Thank you

Found the model number, 31C707 if that helps at all.  I've been use to running kohlers so I have been using Midwest super cub but now I want to switch to Briggs.

I did well at our race this saturday but the old kohler isn't going to hold out too much longer LOL
