23hp vanguard opinions

Currently running a 23hp vanguard with the 16hp crank long rods with flat top pistons and all the other performances parts,question is would going back to 23 crank with stock length rods give me more power or what your opinion on this setup,thanks

Don't know the dimensions of anything on a vanguard, but an ideal rod is 1.8 to one. This is center to center on the rod holes divided by stroke.

I ran the same set up with a short stroke crank, it worked very well with a killer set of heads and two carbs at 12,000 rpm. If you are running an intake manifold without a killer set of heads its not likely you are reaching rpm like that, so you would benefit from the extra cubic inch. You can still run a longer rod with 23hp crank.
