Briggs Fuel Pumps
« on: June 24, 2016, 03:21:18 pm »
I notice that all of the advertisements for mower fuel pumps start off with " fuel pumps are used when the fuel tank is lower than the carb. " I don,t remember seeing a race mower that had the fuel tank lower than the carb. Is the pump necessary because the carb. has been modified to flow more fuel?
Are these pumps operateing off of vacuum or pulse?
The pumps all look the same, with inlet, output, and (pulse or vacuum" but the prices and model numbers run all over the place. Is there one that is more suited for the Walbro  56 carb. ?
Thank You in advance

If your running a modified engine you need a pump regardless of tank location.

The Briggs pump works well.  Just keep a spare.

I liked using the Mikuni pump as it is rebuildable.

Run it off of your intake pulse.  If you use the crank case your asking for trouble.

ONE DROP OF OIL WILL STOP THE PUMP FROM PUMPING, THAT'S WHY USE THE INTAKE.

Where do you Tap in to get the carb pulse : I,ve seen stock taps to the crankcase. I want to a avoid pump failure.

In the intake.  Drill a hole.  Tap threads   Insert pipe nipple.  1/8 is big enough.
