http://www.wbtv.com/story/32712819/monster-trucks-roaring-to-kick-off-the-new-school-year

From Charlotte Motor Speedway: Thunderous monster trucks will soar, aerobatic motorcycles will touch the sky and lawnmowers will rock the road when The Dirt Track at Charlotte hosts high-flying action featuring the most unique vehicles in motorsports on Saturday, Aug. 13, as the adrenaline-pumping Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash rolls in for one of the most spectacular nights of rim-rattling action.

The exciting evening of monster mayhem includes gigantic trucks battling in a no-holds-barred freestyle competition and a series of one-on-one elimination races over a radical obstacle course featuring twisting turns and treacherous terrain.

This year’s bash hosts 10 metal-mashing machines that will compete in head-to-head challenges including Bigfoot 4x4, Hooked, Stone Crusher, Avenger, Brutus, Saigon Shaker, Heavy Hitter, Dawg Pound, Dirt Crew and Quad Chaos.

In addition to the monster truck show, lawnmower racing and a skyscraping freestyle motocross exhibition are sure to rev up fans for an unmatched mix of entertainment. The United States Lawn Mower Racing Association makes its highly awaited debut at The Dirt Track, with bladeless mowers slinging dirt at speeds up to 60 mph.

A jet-powered drag truck known as “Magdatude” will also make its first appearance at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, with 20,000 horsepower of car-melting fun awaiting fans in attendance..

Rising roughly 11 feet tall and tipping the scales at nearly five tons, monster trucks have custom-built, fuel-injected engines producing up to 2,000 horsepower under the hood which propel the massive machines to jumps of 110 to 115 feet—a distance greater than 14 cars lined up side-by-side.

Festivities begin with the Circle K Pre-Race Pit Party from 4-6 p.m., where fans can meet the monster truck drivers, get autographs and have their pictures taken with the enormous vehicles.

Fans can also feel the thrill of power and speed with a monster truck ride on the Sgt. Smash or Coyote Hunter throughout the day for just $10 per person.

Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. Opening ceremonies will begin at 7 p.m.

TICKETS:
Reserved seats for the Aug. 13 Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash cost just $10 plus tax for children 13 and under. Adult tickets cost $32 including tax. For tickets to the Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash, visit the speedway’s website or call the ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267).
