Intek V-Twin cooling questions.
« on: March 23, 2016, 03:59:26 pm »
OK gang! I am going to race BP this year. It's time for more speed. Something I noticed on this Intek V-Twin engine is the ARC flywheel sits way down below the top cover. I am not liking the lack of air flow over the cylinders, and do not feel any air moving down below the heads/cylinders. Parts of the ducting will not fit any more because of the air filter adapter. So before I over-complicate things:

1. Do you add any weatherstripping or seals of any kind between the fan/wheel and top cover?
2. Do you cut down the top cover like with the singles?
3. Do you add tin or seals of some kind around the carb/filter adapter/air filter?
4. Do you just leave it alone, the air filter and adapter are enough for shrouding?

Any input is appreciated.

Jeff

I ran mine all stock.  Didn't modify anything.  I never checked air flow but I never had heat issues.  I was running EGT and CHT on mine.  I never blew it up either.  Ran it hard and lean.

Now increasing the air flow won't hurt anything!!!!

On my Intek i rolled a strip of stainless slightly smaller then the diameter of the flywheel and mounted under the engine cover ,made a huge difference.

We never mess with any of that just cut out the shroud for the air filter and that's it never had a heat problem don't think my head temp has ever been over 280 degrees
