Clutch
« on: November 26, 2015, 03:23:00 pm »
I'm building my own clutch setup I have a two pulley setup on grooved one flat. I was wondering what way should my clutch spring pull or does it mattery current setup my spring goes to the front of mower and I have my grooved pulley on the back of clutch and flat on on the front. I'm asking because I just upgraded from stock clutch setup and when I rev motor belt will come off not in gear

Do you have belt guides?

Yes I replaced clutch because belt was shaking really bad and vibrating horribly bad  and would knock belt off it
Now the shaking and vibration is gone but belt comes off when I rev the motor up. I was wondering if maybe the clutch spring was pulling the wrong way making the belt loose as I rev the motor. If I just let it idle it stays on.

Is the clutch on the slack side of the belt?

Your spring should pull to the back of the mower

That's where I think I messed up the way I had it it wasn't tightning the belt around  the rear pulley cause I had the grooved pulley on rear of clutch setup I'm in process of trying it a different way now

I change my setup and went to one size smaller belt and that worked. I'm guessing belt was just a tad too loose.
