gear boxes

I am building my first mower ,its an MTD and I want to hook  to a go cart axel. My question is what mowers have the Peerless gear boxes and what mowers have RAGBs?? I would appreciate this info before I go digging around.

MOST USE THE PEERLESS 700 GEAR BOX. IT IS SHIFT-ABLE AND THEY COME ON WALK BEHINDS. WHAT CLASS ARE YOU WANTING TO RUN?

Its an ungoverned single but I want to build for a more powerful motor after all the bugs are worked out.

If the motor is ungoverned the first thing you need is a Billet flywheel

As far as USLMRA rules go, you must use a shiftable lawn mower transmission in the prepared classes. Factory Experimental classes can use RA or LA gear boxes. The 700 is the most common, but there are others around.

The 700 also has parts still available new, and depending on what kind of gear ratio you are looking for, affords you the opportunity to swap internals around to achieve what you want.
