8" rims
« on: September 10, 2015, 01:01:55 am »
Building two  uslmra legal mowers this winter and was wondering if I can run 8-9 or 8-10" rears with 16/7.5/8 masters. Ec sells 8x8 ware could I find some 8-9 or 8-10 rims? Thanks

I see no reason you couldnt get that size tire on that size wheel.
You will need to search atv parts to get wheels wider than 8". They are out there, but I dont recall where I found them.

Thanks. Isn't there a lot of side wall flex with a 7.5 wide tire on a 8" rim? I'm running the 6" rears on with 6.5 tires and 8.5 wide and there was little side wall flex . I was told I'm not legal with the 6" rears for a national event so I'm building two new mowers. There's other reasons also.

Found the dwt in bead lock  and 260 each is a bit $$$. So 90% of racers are running Ec 8x8 or in Douglas 8X8 RIMS?

i run  some ITP and STI . i can get them very cheap and they are 8x8,5 ... also made a custom bead lock and got to 8x9 ... problem is they only make them in 4x110 and 4x115  and with the arc hub you have to machine the center of the hub they are too big

I'm thinking of running EC 8x8 with 15/6.5/8 turf masters, should give a firmer side wall? What you guys and gals think? Pro- cons? Thanks never ran the 8" rims before.

Owen, those tires on that size rim leave no sidewall...lol...been there done that. Its a real tight stretch, and most tire places will not want to do it....they need to use a bead blaster to get them to seat. There was no sidewall flex, but it leaves the lip of the rim vulnerable to getting torn up, as it turns into a plow blade when you get pressures to low, or into soft tracks in hard turns....and getting bashed by other mowers.
If you quit when you're behind, you will never win.

Guess I'll keep looking, thanks Jim . Trying to find two 8-9 bead lock rims and two regular 8-9 rims that work with EC,s 4-4 multi hub and just run the 16/7.5/8 masters

EC's hubs have both the 4 on 4 pattern and the 4/110 (I think).
We use only the metric pattern, so that should broaden your search. I know ITP has them, found them on Dennis Kirk.
