New guy with Kohler Command question
« on: August 06, 2015, 07:46:00 pm »
 Hey,

New guy with a simple question for you seasoned Kohler builders. I hope.

I have an older CV20s 20hp Command twin that has blown a head gasket.

It is my understanding that this pretty common with these engines. It blew out from the combustion chamber to the oil return passage. started using lots of oil.

Anyway, my question is this. Can I use the updated gasket kit ( #24-841-04s ) on my smaller bore engine?

This newer gasket with the fire ring is no doubt a better gasket than the original which is listed as #24-841-01s.

Most listings I see claim the older gasket set will fit 17 to 25hp Command engines, but the updated kit they say, fits only 25hp and up engines. It's got me scratching my head?

Any insight on this would be appreciated. Thanks Ken
