Midwest Summer Shootout September 5 and 6
« on: August 05, 2015, 09:04:29 am »
Labor Day weekend 2 day race in Carlsile IOWA!

The Midwest Summer shootout
Presented by River Bottom Raceway
Iowa's Wildest Ride on Dirt
For Racers by Racers

One of the best tracks in all of lawn mower racing is hosting a 2 day event Sept 5 and 6.
We are cross promoting this event with the ARMA race in Guthrie Center on Sept 5.   The races are 1 hour apart and I have been assured if you attend the ARMA race you will be on the road by 5PM.

Sept 5
Pits open at 4:30
Hot laps at 7PM

Sept 6
Pits open at 10:30
Hot laps at 2 PM

They added lights to the track this year so night racing is no issue.   It actually makes the track faster as the track doesn't dry out.

Camping is allowed at the track although there is no power or water.   I'm sure they will be opening up the school for showers Saturday night.

I know there are several ARMA racers that will be making the races after the race in Guthrie Center.    I will be racing at that event as well.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks, Paul.  By the way, we can't get our guys to shower much.

No Water, but plenty of barley pop.

I'll Be there, and should be bringing 3, possibly 5 other crazies.

I'm making plans to attend at least one of these races, and hopefully bring a couple of friends of mine that are interested as well.

Update!!!!

On vacation and still working!!!

Anyway.  We raced there last Saturday night.  If the track is anything like it was then the racing will be awesome.  I was able to stick my mower anywhere on the track and make it turn.  The guys have purchased a new water wagon and it works great!!!

They also purchased a transponder system!   They are in the process of testing it and it will be used for this race!!!!

Getting word of several out of state racers attending.  The BP class should be awesome.

Just wanted to say I had a good time, even though I was just watching. It was great getting to meet some of you guys who I see a lot on here, and I learned some valuable information to take back home. Will definitely be making plans to come back again at least once, and hopefully with my own machine, and with more people than just me, myself and I.

Zach, it was nice to meet you. Glad you got some info to take back. You are on the right track.

Those who did not make it, you need to plan on going to a race at River Bottom. Excellent track, great track staff and great group of racers!
Beg a ride, steal a car, offer to wax Paul's combine in exchange for some gas, whatever it takes, you need to go race here.

Paul, if you got any data like lap times or speeds, see if you can get it. I'm curious on the lap times and speeds.

First off what a weekend!!!!   It was great to see some old friends and meet some new ones!!!

It was fun to do the "exchange" with the ARMA guys again. Both groups benefited from this weekend.

We had 51 mowers. I think everyone had a good time.

Ed the Saturday night timing didn't work.  It was randomly counting laps.  Sunday it worked flawlessly.   The track held up in the sun and heat and was fast.  GP's were turning mid 13 second laps. I had an 11.6.  I need to compare that to last years national when I get a chance.  If I were to guess the BP's were in the 11's Saturday night.

Again THANK YOU everyone who came!!!

First off, what Ed said. Zach, good luck. Get me drunk and I might give some internal engine dope. Or I may just gladly drink your beer and tell you nothing.

Paul, I don't want to wax your combine, but I would sure like to try driving it. I'd like to try your super too, but I don't think there would be quite enough room for my overly-muscular physique.

Yup, very enjoyable weekend. Would have been nice if we could stick around for the Sunday show, but cheese goes bad rather quickly in that heat.

Almost forgot. I would like to thank Troy Werachowski for texting to me various photos of Jenifer Aniston on our drive home. Never mind that he was in the back seat and I was riding shot gun. It's the thought that counts.
