One set of rules say 42 and the other set says what ever you want do. I would like to have if fit both sets of rules

Interesting you should bring this up, as I have been discussing the same thing with someone. US rules are clear when it comes to maximum allowable offset:

FXS, Section 9: " 39" minimum wheelbase. 42" Maximum width. No more than 4" of total offset. Offsetting of axles, center of frame to outside of right tire is to be 23", and from center of frame to outside of left tire is to be 19" giving a total offset of 4". "

That being said, the debate is this: FX/S & FX/T with no offset would be 38", but a prepared chassis is allowed 40" maximum....sounds like a call to Manny is in order?

I wish someone would clear this up on a chassis with no offset

Total width is  max 42 inches.  If it is offset, no more than 4 inches.  In other words, 21 inches from center line to outer tire on each side if there is no offset.  If you want to build 38" or 40" with no offset, center the frame up and go with it.  It will still be legal.

 THIS IS CORRECT UNDER ARMA. IF YOUR BUILDING ON CENTER, YOU CAN MAKE IT 42" SIDEWALL TO SIDEWALL. NOT SURE ABOUT OTHER RULES.
