Rim cutting valve stem
« on: April 20, 2015, 10:12:44 am »
Does any one else have a problem with the alum rims cutting the valve stem?  The tubeless stems have a shoulder built up but the stem on a tube is just straight and I am having difficultly keeping them from being cut by the rim.

If you spin the tire on the rim, it will pull the stem. I have ripped stems plumb out of a tube.
Cheap tubes are not your friend.

is there a certain brand of tube out there that I should get?  Is there anything I could do that would help spinning the tire?  I imagine bead locks but I don't know jack squat about those.

I agree but it is part of the rules so I am just trying to comply.

YOU HAVE TO RUN TUBES? YOU COULD RUN RIM SCREWS TO HOLD THE TIRE IN PLACE, IF ALLOWED.

Must run tubes or bead lock rims.   As per my previous comments I don't know jack squat about the bead locks but more than willing to learn.  Advice is great but anyone willing to send me some pictures would be even better.  I am chewing up tubes and I have to do something.

I would run the beadlocks if that is your only other option.

Or use contact cement to mount your tires on the rim.

Again I'm baffeled at another odd rule.
