Kohler 22 HP vtwin??? good???
« on: April 13, 2015, 10:09:24 pm »
Whats up guys in puyallup wa, new to everything but sounds like alot of fun. I just got a 22hp Kohler v-twin mower for free, and I wanna start racing.... I hear it is a little spendy and hard to find parts for these motors... :worried:.. I figured dang 22 HP that will get me moving yea no high rpms will have to shift a lot but I'll give it a shot..... I took the deck off but I have no drive belt for trans to motor if that's what you wanna call it, then I kinda gave up idk if I would be better off with a 16HP cuz more parts or what lmk thanks.... Small budget but got some money for a hobby if you know what I mean... 8)

What's your budget?

That kohler is a great engine.  But not a beginners class engine.

Thanks for the reply..... I don't know what you would say beginners class is but I raced go karts before and cars on track atv's and what not just new to this idea... I don't wanna end up spending 1000$ everytime I go race.... Since I heard parts are hard to find on this motor but I haven't searched around yet to find out thanks again!!!!

Parts are easy to find.  It is easy to sink a bunch of money into one though, just like any other twin.  They build the most power per dollar spent.

Look up Zach Kerber.  His link is in my profile.  Great guy with awesome parts at reasonable prices.
