Yep I agree with Al and Randy, for our type of racing keep the brake and the clutch separate.
Last year in IMOW I only used the clutch when I was first starting out and when I wanted to come to a complete stop! Setting up for corners was either WIDE OPEN, a burp of the throttle or as Randy stated on a real tight corner a tap of the brakes with out clutching while keeping the RPM up.

well I would rather have separate contols too on this machine , but this is what my wife wanted .this setup will be okay for our track and how she drives .  My huffy is set up with all separate controls though.Wish I it setup this way last year .

I guess I don't understand why you would want to disengage your clutch when hitting the brakes to setup for a corner ?? I very seldom used my clutch to setup for turns , now if you get held up and use it to get a hole shot that's another story .
If you have a decent set of brakes you can adjust them to not lockup tight till the brakes are fully applied .
my wife can't drive stick on a vehicle , she doesn't think she can grasp the brake, gas and clutch concept .this way is simple for her .

And that makes sense in this situation...

While it may not be the most effective or effecient system for all out racing, driver comfort leads to confidence and is important in maintaining control...

Downshifting to slowdown is, but letting off the gas and letting the engine brake or using the brakes isn't bad for the trans.  If it was fwd stickshifts wouldn't have such a reputation of reliability.

Okay, lets rephrase that statement.  My legs don't work as they should so the single pedal setup is much easier for me.  Also, the way our track is setup and once we had my mowchine fine tuned last year, I never had to let off the throttle in the turns.

I know it was a pain in the butt for Ty to set it up this way but he didn't seem to mind and it keeps him busy.  He's pretty crafty when it comes to modifying something to suit one particular person.  He's pretty amazing!

Some new photos of the project of changes and additions since last post :woo:

Air cleaner with Squidd's adaptor idea.  Air cleaner was an additional 3" longer.  Had to trim off 3" to clear the pedal.

Custom exhaust

Battery & fuel tank

Foot throttle

Shifting lever with custom cover

Currently waiting for paint and fit for belt.

Looking Good...

So what kind of motor you got in there... gearing etc...??

Is that something you can bring over to a US track...?  Or is it kinda "between" classes...?

Thinking maybe IMOW...???

Thanx squidd , got alot of great ideas from sami's build .

Has a 12 hp briggs stock with the exception of a degree key.

Using a peerless 700 tranny w/12 tooth sprocket , 41 chain .

Has a live rearend utilizing the factory steel differential which is welded up solid w/40 tooth sprocket and hydraulic brakes .

As of right now it is in between classes , which wouldn't take much to make race legal for US or WILMRA .It is more like a cross between IMOW , A/P and S/P depending on wheelbase .Have to recheck rules/regs to see where exactly where it would fit .

Sounds like you'd make IMOW, except maybe for the exhaust and air filter, those just don't look stock! Degree key could be replaced easy enough. What's your final gear ratio Ty? Sounds a wee bit tall for IMOW specs.

The wheelbase isn't going to matter in any of the class' that you said , the only two class' that have a wheelbase limit that would effect your mower are BP and CP .
If you were to throw a cam and carb on the motor you would have a SP , or get a cam and carb for a 8 HP and go AP .
Any way you look at it it's a nice lookin mower and I'm sure your going to have a blast this year with it , Good job !!!!
HOPE TO SEE AT THE RACES !!!!!!!!!!
