Steering options
« on: January 20, 2015, 04:10:18 pm »
hey,
Im looking at two options in how im going to setup my steering. So was wanting some input into what you guys think of the 2 im choosing between? They are both over the top of the engine systems.

The 1st is having the steering shaft run  from the wheel over the engine to a universal joint then a smaller section of shaft to another universal( using 2 uni's to make their angles not so sharp ) and then another short shaft which will run vertical down to a single pitman arm. From the pitman arm in the center of the chassis there will be 2 tie rods running outwards to the axle steering arms on each side.

The 2nd is a steering shaft running over the engine through 2 rose n heim joints with a pitman arm of the end of the shaft which will have a tie rod running vertically down to 1 of the pitman arms  of a pair in a cam type setup and then from the 2nd pitman arm of that cam will have 2 tie rods runnings outwards to the axle steering arms for each wheel.

I hope iv explained it well enough for you to know the steering systems im talking bout.? They are very common steering systems and id appreciate some input into which you think is better and ther pro's and con's to why you think so?

cheers snyds
