CR250 Kart shifter engine????
« on: January 18, 2015, 07:35:42 pm »
hey guys,
Was wondering if its legal to run a Honda 2 stroke CR250cc single cylinder racing kart engine in a FXT spec'd mower? This motor is ran in SuperKart class racing karts. It uses a 5 or 6 speed sequential gearbox.
Cheers snyds

Im sure iv read somewhere that in the top class that you can run upto 450cc single or twin cylinder mower or motorbike engines in that class of racing mower. Im yet to find the site again but im thinking it is an australian racing mower class.
Has anyone else ever heard of this? and also i understand that is only for 4 stroke engine anyway.

In australia motorcycle engines are legal upto 450cc and the transmissions are legal too, 5 or 6 speeds. Although it would be better to narrow it down to 3 gears which most people recommend to do even with the lawn mower transmissions like a peerless, etc. Iv heard guys say you choose a gear ratio that will make it so you only need to use 3 of the gears, How would i work out or choose a ratio to do this? as id really like it if it were possible to setup that way.
cheers guys

If your rule allow motorcycle engine. get yourself a nice 450cc from a quad with a starter . honda or yamaha . it will be cheaper in the long run and way more reliable than anything coming from a mower trans or engine .
