rear axle solid v tubular
« on: January 10, 2015, 02:29:54 am »
hey guys, im building a fxt/super mod racing mower and im looking at either just a solid axle steel rear axle, chromoly steel tubular axle or an aluminium tubular axle. I jus wanteds some input as to what is normally ran in these classes and what you guys think will work best and be strong enough but also light,  as having a high power to weight ratio is my biggest point on this mower.
Thanks guys look forward to your advice.

chromoly steel tubular axle 1 1/4 is ideal solid is heavier and aluminium is not strong enough

We ran both for years and I didn't notice any difference between the two. If you have a multi mower team I would probably build them all the same just so you don't have to carry too many extra parts.
