Thanks for the heads up on the pushrods. I think I'm going to go ahead and get a billet flywheel, ARC rods and a new cam. Once I see how it's running with those parts I'll think about the other work.

If you use the stock crank and pistons you will have to get the stock
length rods.

Assuming your motor is 42ci splash lube, you will need ARC part#6302 rods,
Briggs part#792307 std.pistons(if bore is good) to go with the ARC rods.

If you do run it on stock rods, clearance them and flip the top one!

I haven't done anything to the engine yet so it is still stock. I've had it running several times to test my mower, today I couldn't get it to start. The starter just can't turn the engine over quick enough. Do I have a bad starter?

I've tried several differnt batteries. I am just hooking jumper cables from a car battery to some fins on the side and the positive terminal on the starter. This method has worked several times I don't know if it's the best way to do it though.

I have my new billet aluminum flywheel and I just removed my old flywheel. The old flywheel had tons of magnets on the inside and the new one doesn't have any. Is that a issue or do I just bolt on the new flywheel.

It seems you probably need some heavier cables for the starter and ground

Magnets on the inside were for charging/lights. Just keep your battery charged, and you'll be fine.

And change the starter while you have the flywheel off.  Just went through having to replace mine because it was dragging.
