« on: August 15, 2014, 08:47:29 am »
will a 16-6.50-8 tire fit on a 8x8 rim with out a tube under race conditions or would I need a wider tire I know that tire will fit on a 7'' wide rim but don't know about an 8'' wide rim
it for a B/P class mower

Yes they will, gives a very flat tread, with a nice roll to sidewall, stands up good.

Rooster is correct but I've never personally been able to do that.  Just last week I wrestled my 16-6.50-8 trying to put it on a 8x8 without a tube and I was using tire lubricant.  NO LUCK!!  After much aggravation I put the tube in and it went flawless.  Any pointers on installing that tire to that rim?  Bead seater??

I used a cheetah bead seating tool and it worked on all of my other tire applications thank you for the input

I put a tube in and clinch the tire. then break the bead on one side, remove the tube, install the stem and reclinch the one side.

with one side already clinched it makes it a lot easier. you can use a rachet strap or a tire band to do the unclenched side.

Clenching is what my wife does with her teeth when I spend too much quality time with Ed.
