George is right. Forget the adjustable hub and everything else....until you accurately measure the actual firing point by determining top dead center with a dial indicater and use a timing light and degree wheel...you are absolutely shooting in the dark. Myself...until I actually measured it...I was miles off from where I THOUGHT I was. Fortunately for me..I was guessing low.

So now that everyone has had their say, nothing is solved. I stand by my theory that the Briggs piston is a pile of monkey doo doo. I've just seen too many of them shatter in all kinds of applications. G can do what he will with his Tecumsehs because the pistons will take whatever you dish out to them.

Briggs 31 piston, 30 degrees timing, 5800rpm. 4 races on it.

Funny thing, it basically just shut off. No big boom or anything. Rather disappointing.

Only thing I heard was the pop of another beer can opening (mine) when Little Eddie's motor broke. Better his engine than one of my twins. Cheers!!!
