Carb hook up?
« on: January 12, 2006, 01:06:40 am »
Hey Guys and Gals.

I would like to know how you all hook up your throttle cable to your Carb?
Do you go direct to the butterfly shaft or do you use the original hook up?
What is the best way?
I seem to really wear my butterfly shaft or carb housing.
Just looking for a better way.

Thanks for your time.

Ron I use the stock link from carb to gov. arm. I use a thin wire cable
that is very flexable that goes through a steel coiled cable jacket .
I just run the wire from the gov. arm to my foot pedal. I also like
to use 2 throtle return springs on my mowers. Hope this helps.

It is also very important to put a stop on your gas pedal if you are using one, because you have no control on how hard you stomp on the pedal on a rough track and the weight of your foot pounding on the pedal will break off the throttle shaft. I make mine adjustable and adjust it so that the throttle is wide open. It also helps if you can have a bend in your link between the govenor lever and the carb to give it a little flex, and hook the springs to the  govenor lever and the pedal, because a spring on the throttle shaft causes wear. A very light one on the carb for saftey is ok.

Thanks for your reply.
I do have a foot throttle stop.
If I did't have one I would pull the carb right off the motor!!
Just trying to get all I can.
I will look into moving my throttle linkage.

Thanks
