hey guys when running a starter on a 390 do you use a plastic gear when using an arc flywheel? I know you do on the briggs. if so where do I get one, and how do you change it?  thanks bob

I never had to change the stasrter gear, just used what came on the starter.   They WILL smoke the solenoid with a higher copression engine.  Most of the time, I try to turn it by hand past the compression stroke.

I am running two of these engines, one in FX and the other in FXS, they mesh fine with the ring gear.  The weak point is the solenoid on the starter itself.

I have same problem mine I'll have to spin it by hand off the compression stroke.
