If I was doing that, I'd do that to every lug!

With a slight overlap to the pattern...or you end up with three straight grooves in the ice...

Do that X10 and they should work good or better yet use bolts and fender washers put the bolts thru from the inside and sharpen the bolts those work real good even in snow.

One thing to remember, don't over do the back tires.  (alot more than the fronts) because you won't be able to steer.  Just like studding a sled, too many studs and not enough carbide on the skis=can't turn.  To much carbide and not enough studs=spin out turn to fast.
I'd also stager the screws so you have more scratch lines.  I think you will need more so the tires will roll.  It looks like they may want to stop and slide.
Let us know how it turns out and what combination you end up using in your final set up.

i would do the bolt thing but its allot of work to take of those tire and it is to cold in my garage so i don't feel like it

and they are tubeless in the front

and ya I'm not going to put too many studs on the back and I'm gonna stager the screws

if i get out there I will finish them anyways I will have new pic tonight

thanks for all the tips guys  8)

we use sheet metal screws for our ice racing and we use about 200 per tire for the best traction.
