« on: May 02, 2014, 06:19:16 pm »
Hi all I am working on a mower Im going to run a 4 1/2 0r 5 inch pulley on the motor and a 3 or 3 1/2 on the rear end, the rear end is a 6 speed well anyways I was wondering if someone could tell me what kind of speed I could get out of it im going to be running 18 inch stock tires. If anyone could tell me approximate speed or have any suggestions im open to all suggestions, Thanks Jesse

it'll go zero to hurt in about 60 seconds if you don't first make it safe. Steering, c-clips, stock wheels, brakes. safety safety safety.

As far as the real answer... do some more research on gear ratios and you'll be able to figure that out.

You don't want any clips! Double Split shaft locks ,make threads on end of spindles and use castle nuts with lock pin or buy some spindles . I've seen some nasty crashes with stock c-clips new or not , tire falling of in the corner doing 20-30 mph.

I use to race locally with a group of people I never did have nothing but lfactory setup and I ran. 40 mph but I understand the safety concerns and I do plan on threading the axle ends and using a castle nut setup

There's a pretty big club up north from me with the same all stock rules, crazy. It's not worth the chance of getting hurt or even worse hurting someone else over something that takes maybe a hour to make safer.
