Unfortunately "someone" sent me the wrong size shaft. Not going to mention any names... So got bored and decided to mock up every thing. What do you guys think? I know I'm going to have to trim the fenders, and somehow get the grill to stick out farther than the front steering linkage.

I plan on dropping the seat as far as possible without going past the fenders

Since the fenders are seperate pieces you can bolt or weld some flat metal to the sides of the upper box and bolt the fenders to that so you can trim the upper box down to get the seat to 13" off the ground. From past experience with this same exact mower, make sure you brace the upper box with tubing or angle, it flexes an unreal amount with how it's fastened together from the factory. On the grille being past the tie rod..... bend you some thin flat steel (an old mower hood works well) and make your dash longer so your hood and grille sit farther forward.

I cut grass when I was a kid with one of these mowers and it ended up being my first race mower. Yours is looking really good man

Thanks a lot for your advice Matt, I don't know if people are actually reading my post since I don't have any real experience. But it's all a learning process for me. I guess I do have some kind of experience building stuff, recently I built a chinda shifter kart I would post pics but I don't if it's allowed on the mower build page . Status of the mower: still waiting on the right size shaft from where I ordered it....sucks

That's pretty much everyone is telling me. I think it looks nice green as well . It does have a couple places where the paint is messed up though. If I repainted it green does anyone know where I could get al new decals? My brother does fabrication for commercial singns I wonder if I could take measurements and get all new vinyl decals done....the easy route would be to find a full decal kit though. Thanks again for the comments, you guys have a newbie all excited.

Was able to work on the mower today, I 're-did the rear end to achieve 4 1/4" height all the way around. Can someone clarify the fender - seat rule with USLMRA, from my understanding the bottom of the seat pan cannot go lower than the top of the fenders. Does that apply if the fenders are seperate pieces?
the frame:

The rear axle bearings. is this considered discrete?

The front of the frame, battery in original location:

Seat has to be a minimum of 13" from ground.  The bottom of the seat can be lower than the tops of the fenders, even lower than the tops of the tires.  Look at the pictures in the 2014 rule book.  The seat pan has been lowered below the tops of the fenders and actually sits even with the tunnel.  If the tires are 16", and minimum seat height is 13", then the seat can actually be lower than the tops of the tires.
