maybe this has been discussed and I've overlooked it, if so could someone tell me what link it is. On my drag car we run evacuators from valve covers to headers, has anybody done this and does it help, or does anybody run a fuel pump as a vac pump from crank case or valve cover and would this work with an ohv mower engine? Or am I overthinking AGAIN?

Yes it has been done. I believe that Tommy"Huffy 044" runs a fuel pump to help with Crank case pressure.  He would be the one to ask.

real simple, hook the tank side of the pump to your catch can, hook the carb side to atmosphere. The system has to be seald from the engine to the catch can. I had a visible catch can so I could monitor oil blow by, with a small layer of oil on the bottom of the can you could open the drain and with the engine running you could watch air being drawn back into the can fromthe drain. I also ran a fuel pump for the carb in series with the engine pump, no trouble at all.

Does it work? I'm going to say it does if nothing more than preventing oil pan gaskets from blowing out. Until I did this on my 8hp's I would blow a pan gasket about 2 or three times a year, no more when I put the pump on. Can you feel the extra power? I don't know, but a wise man once said "A lot of little things add up to one big thing" well spoken George.

Huffy044, so you are saying that basically you are using a sealed canister for catch can and applying vaccumn to it with a fuel pump, are you using the stock breather then to blow by to catch can? On my nova without evacuators I could never get fuel pump block off to quit leaking oil after a day at the strip until I put evac, on didn't change gasket and it hasn't leaked since, ran a pass without vac. hooked up once and hard to tell if it helps time but will def. make blockoff leak without them

Curious, with the problems the Vanny's have with blowing the sump gaskets has anyone ever done this setup on one?  If so did it help?

The catch can is hooked to the engine through the valve cover. The fuel pumps pulls a vacuum on the catch can. The discharge on the fuel pump that normally went to the carb goes to atmosphere.

The catch can is simple a place to store oil vapor that condenses into liquid oil. Hooking the fuel pulp to the engine without it would hydraulic the pump and stop it from working.

Make sense?

for a single ohv engine would you just tap into intake to get vac. for pump?

I am gonna try this on my built Vanny, would it be ok to hook it to the PCV valve?  I have taken the guts out of the PCV valve so it flows straight through FYI.  I have the small breather filters on each valve cover
