real simple, hook the tank side of the pump to your catch can, hook the carb side to atmosphere. The system has to be seald from the engine to the catch can. I had a visible catch can so I could monitor oil blow by, with a small layer of oil on the bottom of the can you could open the drain and with the engine running you could watch air being drawn back into the can fromthe drain. I also ran a fuel pump for the carb in series with the engine pump, no trouble at all.
Does it work? I'm going to say it does if nothing more than preventing oil pan gaskets from blowing out. Until I did this on my 8hp's I would blow a pan gasket about 2 or three times a year, no more when I put the pump on. Can you feel the extra power?
