Legal or not
« on: December 24, 2013, 12:50:20 pm »
If a Briggs 21hp single is 540cc, and a Kawasaki 540 single is legal for a xr, since they have the same cc can I run Briggs 21hp on my xr?

Your saying xr so I assume your talking ARMA rules. The 2013 rules state 17.5 factor hp and under. So by the rules the 21 hp 33cid engine is illegal.

Is there a chance that they could make the change to the 33ci max, or would there be a major difference between a 33ci Briggs and a 31ci briggs

.1 makes it illegal ?    :bash:

The 17.5 horse part makes it legal. He didn't mention cubes in the rule

33's are being used be it legal or not, just saying. Until tech starts tearing them down to truly check em out its simply a fact thats happening!!! But the 33 isnt a garranteed win.

Does anyone know if there is a big difference between the 31s and 33s? If there not a gaurenteed win, why not make them legal?, I'm not tryin to sound snooty or anything, I was just wondering if there's a specific reason?

The bigger cube motor may or may not have a slight advantage as it comes of the corner maybe 10 foot or so maybe but 3650 is 3650 regardless of motor. When I ran ARMA me n Jake ran a 28 we snapped up off a scrap truck at a gas station as it was being taken to the scrap yard. Never did rebuild it it had compression and with the pulley stuck on it we just added carb and linkages and raced it smoked pretty good when full of oil but I will say this it was a hard to beat it. and it ran against 31's and 33's. Bigger aint always better. Why is it not legal I dont know. But it sure is being run by some legal or not. and no they dont always win either.

If I was to run the mod-xr or Gp I'd run a 28 CID if I was going to run a Briggs.

Thanks Lester

I wasn't looking to get a 33ci, what actually happened was I was Christmas shopping yesterday and I saw a brand new 33 ci on a mower at Sears lol, I was just thinking since the cc was equal to the kawi that maybe it could be legal, but I unerstand what you guys are saying, thanks for taking the time to explaining it to me!!
