Yup. Definitely a beefed up Intek 49 cube. I like the crank, rods, valve covers and especially the new head gasket.

I like the fact it had forged rods. But the weight makes me think it would be too heavy to use for racing

Weight is good in spots ..... Stroke is  a little more by a touch hair but yea re worked 49 polished

Over the years they kept improving the intek . The first ones had junk rings, weak rods, but the biggest problem was a very poor air cleaner system. I think this will be a great grassmower engine that's what its designed for but they should have called it a super intek it still has poor flowing heads but I do like forged crank and rods and a high torque starter. This motor will save briggs a lot of warranty money they should have done this a long time ago.
