When I remove the stock air filter, should I remove the studs that originally held the filter on cause the new filters adaptor has 3 set screws.

Well I think I might have gotten the wrong adaptor for the carb that I have, I ordered the velocity stack adapter for briggs.I looked and noticed that the briggs engines on BMI(" which is where I ordered the part from"), had a different carb. Do you think that it will still work.

More than likely its for a small briggs kart engine. If it is then it probably will not work.

WHAT CARB IS IT? THERE ARE A COUPLE DIFFERENT STOCK CARBS. ONE THE AIR FILTER POINTS UP, THE OTHER POINTS HORIZONTAL. THIS IS PROVIDING IT'S NOT OFF ANOTHER TYPE OF ENGINE.
