modified build
« on: November 15, 2013, 08:58:49 am »
I am going to start building a modified over the winter. as this is my first attempt I may start a little different than others. I come with a go kart background so I have many go kart parts among those are wheels of different widths. I'd like to know what wheel and tire size would be best using these wheels. I need to know this to set frame height before I start welding. Also I intend to build my own front axel and I need to know the deminsions of the end plates or where to buy same.
Caution, this is the first of many questions.

Of course wheel size depends on tire size.  Find the tire you want to use and that will help you decide.  The end plates can be bought from EC Distributing. You can make your own plates by figuring out what spindles you plan to use, the amount of spacers you want to run, and the type of heims you have available.  At that point it is simple math and angles.
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!

Some do, Personally I find them quite loose on turn exits.
