In discussing this with a fellow racer an intresting law of stering came up. This racer is running a couple of my axles and was telling me he could simply take the spacers off the outer part of the spindle and move his tire out a inch on each side and put the spacers on the inside. Although this is physically possible, it would totally mess up the scrub steer I designed into the axle. The only way to keep the  (what I beleive) is the proper scrub is to cut the axle and move each side out indepently of each other. Just spacing the tire futher out on the spindle away from the king ping is making the angle much worse.

I bring this up in the intrest of safety, as tech inspector I saw a lot of machines come through with scrub angles that were excessive, how some of them got arount the track was amazing and a lot of the times they were not the front runners.

I also see excessive scrub angles on front axles that incorporate front disk brakes. You have no other choice other than run a disk which would fit inside the front wheel and allow room for the caliper. We see it also in our Pro-Mod (NNYLMR) class where chassis were built to the SuperMod ARMA yet they decided to "widen" out to our 44" limit (we do all we can to keep racers legal that were built to our rules before our adaption of ARMA). The only proper way to widen the front stance is to use a wider beam. That is why I'm asking if ARMA is considering to change it's width.

Very well said  I already have had a few inquiries for my spindles and wondering if I could make them longer. and this is what I explained to them.

Thanks Tommy for putting it on here.

Dont widen the scrub, just run wider wheels.
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!

No Tom you cannot no offset in Prepared classes

We are seeing what doesn't work.

Lets try something that does.

It is painfully obvious the 8" rear wheels aren't the way anymore in the higher HP machines (CP/BP).

Just going to a 6" rear wheel would solve a lot of the problem. Look at ModX and Super Sportsman.

Just because the rule has been no offset why can't it be changed???

Why not allow a 2" offset on the CP/BP and for that matter ModX/Super sportsman.

Change overall width to 40"

It wouldn't take a major rebuild to get the either.

The other classes could stay as they are now.

8" wheels are not the problem.  I think most would agree Chuck Miller, Rocket Ron's whole crew, and a few others have made them work extremely well.  Look at the prepared class results from the All American (BP), results don't lie.  8 inch wheels use bigger tires, bigger tires equal more traction, how do tell is that not working in the high horsepower classes? Offset is not the answer to me because it looks awful as a prepared machine, remember everyone does not want an offset go kart chassis with lawn mower sheet metal.  These changes are far enough reaching that I think many can make the changes and be safer/faster with very little being spent to do so.

8 inch wheels are not the way.... I disagree I ran both on bp/super sportsman and  the 8 were way easier to hook up. The rules for us are done trying to reword or change at this point is pointless. Try to get Arma to change also so that those that Wang to run 8s won't :censored: at a center of gravity disadvantage even the playing field. Plus you won't alienate the us racers from running arma.

The seat height rule at 13 is probably the thing that will have the most effect on rollover. And finally we have a benchmark to build off of to make all chassis equal. George I ran the 40" at the all American and really did not see any difference and I obviously was not the fastest guy in the class.   What we will have now is faster corner speeds and hopefully will not magnify the problems we currently have.  Thinking the 8" wheels are painful to run........., well just keep thinkin! lol!!!!
